Getting There
Jalakara is situated in the heart of Havelock Island in glorious isolation high up on a lush hillside. Our Tropical garden property backs on to Virgin Rainforest with stunning views across the island and rainforest.
We are well positioned for access to all the dive shops and beaches on the island including the world renowned radhanagar beach (number 7), these are between 5-15 mins gentle drive away. We are 25 mins walk to the nearest beach, and just 20 mins walk to the vibrant market.
Our team can arrange scooter or bike hire and travel by auto rickshaw or taxi when required.
Getting there from Mainland India
The andaman Islands can currently only be accessed by aeroplane from mainland india.
There are daily flights to Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, DelHi and Mumbai.
FLIGHT & BOAT CONNECTIONS
Havelock island is approximately 90 minutes by ferry from Port Blair.
Outward bound
Last scheduled boats from Port Blair to Havelock leave at 2pm - so please make sure you book a flight landing before 12.30pm.
Return
Book flights leaving after 11am from Port Blair to mainland india to avoid an overnight stay in Port Blair.
Transfers from Port Blair to Havelock Island
We strongly advise our guests to take up our transfers service to make the trip from Port Blair Airport to Havelock island and return as smooth as possible. Please note that it can be very difficult to get ferry tickets at peak times - so please do not leave this to the last minute if organising transfers by yourself.
This service includes airport Meet & Greet, A/C car transfers to jetty in Port Blair (30 minutes), ferry tickets (upgrade to royal class available for Rs 1000 each way), A/C car transfers from Havelock jetty to Jalakara (15 minutes).
Rs 8500 for lead passenger Rs 6500 for additional passengers (+18% Goods & Services TAX)
We can also provide day use of hotel rooms in Port Blair and additional use of a driver in Port Blair if required.

Private boat transfers from Port Blair to Havelock are subject to availability and may be arranged on request for up to ten people. The boat we use is fast (45 minutes), fun (you can trawl for tuna on the way), convenient (they leave when you want them to - last departure time is 4.15PM) but expensive - expect to pay around Rs 70,000 per boat for a one way trip.
